Since our restart last season we have conducted over 150,000 tests with 124 positive cases a rate of 0.08% and alongside this a significant proportion of the F1 community has been vaccinated already. The Formula 1 community will continue to travel this season with stringent safety measures that have allowed us to travel safely this season. As part of the longer-term deal, discussions will continue regarding the location for the Grand Prix from 2023 with further details to be provided at a later time. ![]() The step from the gesture to be helpful to F1 in 2021 to a long term strategy was short and simple and the vision for F1 to be the showcase for Qatar after the FIFA World Cup in 2022 was the driving force behind this long term agreement. There was a strong will from Qatar to be helpful to F1, and in the course of this process, the vision for a longer partnership was discussed and agreed for 10 years. Raikkonen also set the fourth fastest lap-time during the tests so things look positive, however there is not much riding on the Finn and his teammate, Antonio Giovinazzi, this season. Alfa RomeoĪlfa Romeo had a successful testing programme with Kimi Raikkonen completing the second-most number of laps (229) behind Gasly (237). Tsunoda will be looking to impress following his promotion to F1, and he seems like a good fit for the team. It was a steady pre-season test for them, with F1 data showing that they are third overall and just 0.3 seconds behind Mercedes in short-run pace. McLaren boast strong drivers in Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris, who have impressed in previous years. Verstappen also admitted that it is probably his strongest pre-season test yet, while new Red Bull recruit Sergio Perez appears to have settled in nicely. Red Bull Racing looked very comfortable during the testing, with Max Verstappen even securing the fastest lap time. Problems with the new W12 E Performance gearbox made Hamilton look like he was lacking confidence during the test, although F1 data shows that Mercedes are still leading the way in long run pace and are second to Red Bull on short runs. ![]()
